RICK: Back in the early 80's I was listening a lot of the old classic rock, you know, stuff like Van Halen, Def Leppard, ZZ-Top, etc. I don't mean to say these bands are bad because I still listen to them to this day. After a while though, you know, you want something else. You want something that will have a one of a kind sound. Well, I found that in bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. I remember being at a good friends house one night and he was playing various underground bands such as Raven, The Rods, Heathen, and bands like that. I'd heard about Metallica, but I'd never heard them before. Needless to say he took out his Metallica Master Of Puppets Album and played it for me. I was stunned by their kick ass sound. It was totally different from anything I'd heard before other than Megadeath. I did like the sound of Megadeath, but the lyrics, to me, were too negative. I was hooked on Metallica because of the awesome guitars and drums. The bass licks from the former bass player, Cliff Burton are hard to beat. The lyrics were very impressive and made an impact in my life. Other friends of mine who did not like metal would ask me, "How could you like that stuff? That's satanic." Too bad these fools never took the time to really listen to Metallica because they don't realize what they were missing.
PAM: I met Rick in 1992. I hated Metal music. I was a Country and Western girl. Rick introduced me to Metallica, one song at a time. He started with the slower, more ballad type songs. The first song he played for me was Nothing Else Matters. To this day, it is still my most favorite Metallica song. After hearing that song I wanted to hear more and more. He slowly played faster and louder songs until I couldn't get enough. It wasn't long before C&W went by the wayside and it was Metallica... Metallica... and more Metallica. Now he can't stop me from listening to it. We own almost every Metallica album on vinyl, cassette, and CD. In fact, for my 1995 birthday, Rick surprised me with the Metallica Box Set, Live Shit Binge & Purge. YES!!!! For my 1996 birthday he gave me Load. It had just been released. It sounds a little different and to be honest with you at first I didn't like it too much. But, it was just like the good ole days... it grew on me. I will always like early Metallica better, but, what can I say... Metallica is Metallica and I LOVE 'EM!!!
